Under normal conditions, the grab crane can last 10-15 years. If you maintain it regularly, its service life will be extended. Remember that you need to protect it from overload.
When grabbing powdery materials, it is recommended to use a sealed grab bucket and slow the lifting and moving speed to avoid dust spread. At the same time, you should close the bucket before lifting, and unload gently to keep dust down.
Cabin control gives you a direct view and is suitable for long and complex working conditions. On the other hand, remote control is flexible and convenient, letting you work from a distance. It is ideal for small and simple grabbing operations.Â
Yes, it performs well from -20℃ to +45℃. We use electrical components with cold-resistant jackets and low-temp hydraulic oil. Also, the structural parts are treated to prevent freezing or rust.
You need to lubricate the rotating and walking parts, check the bucket and connecting bolts’ status. Clean dust from electronics, and replace vulnerable parts on time. These simple daily care can greatly extend the crane life.
Types of Grab BucketsÂ
Mechanical Clamshell Grab Bucket
It relies on mechanical transmission to open and close. Due to its simple structure, you don’t need to spend too much time and effort on maintenance. It works well for dry materials like coal, grain, sand, and gravel. Suitable for a factory with limited budget.
But its gripping power and sealing aren’t great, so it is difficult to deal with sludge or any sticky material.Â
Hydraulic Grab Bucket
Driven by hydraulic pressure, it can tightly grasp wet sludge and mineral residue without leakage. It delivers high-speed handling, and you can use it in high-intensity projects.
However, you should pay more and regularly change the oil and sealing rings.Â
Electric Motor Grab Bucket
It is driven by the motor and reducer, and can be easily connected with crane electrical systems.
Thanks to its low noise, you can put it in the enclosed workshops for a long time. Meanwhile, it features moderate gab force and can help you save a lot of operational costs. Unfortunately, it’s also less effective on ultra-sticky or heavy corrosive materials.
Electro-Hydraulic Grab Bucket
The hybrid grab bucket combines electric control and hydraulic drive, delivering precise control, strong overload resistance and powerful grip force. It serves as a versatile grab solution and handles mixed materials, sticky materials, garbage and irregular bulk goods.Â
Compared with hydraulic grab buckets, it requires lower maintenance expenses, facilitating you to wire and install.Â
Orange Peel Grab Bucket
With multiple claws, it provides you with strong clamping force and wide grabbing range. It is mainly used for complex and irregular materials, such as steel scrap, wood and waste metal. But you’d better not handle powdery bulk materials. You can match it with jib and tower grab crane.
How to Choose the Right Grab Crane?
Material Type
You should consider properties of the materials, including dryness, viscosity, size and density. For dry and loose bulk material, such as coal and grain, it’s best to select mechanical grab buckets. But for wet and sticky material, the hydraulic grab bucket with strong sealing is preferred. Also, the orange peel grab is ideal for irregular block materials like crap steel.
Working Site
You need to measure the on-site span, lifting height and walking range. If you have a narrow working space, the overhead or jib grab crane is good. For large open yards, ports and construction sites, the gantry grab crane can help you maximize the use of on-site space.
Daily Output
Generally, for daily production of less than 500 tons, an A3-level grab crane is recommended.Â
A4-A5 level is suited for continuous operation with a daily output of 500-1000 tons. If you want to produce over 1000 tons in one day, A6-A7 heavy-duty grab cranes can meet your demand.
Budget
If you pursue low cost and mainly apply for regular industrial sites, then the mechanical grab crane is a good option for you. For demanding ports and chemical parks, you can upgrade to a hydraulic grab crane. Tell us your application and budget, and we can help you configure other functions.
