What Should You Do if the Steel Coil Slips During a Coil Crane Lifting?

You should stop the operation immediately and cut off the power. Then, check the clamping position. You need to adjust the coil angle to make a stable state. Also, inspect the anti-slip liner condition; if the liner is severely worn, you should replace it in time. Never force lifting to avoid the risk of coil falling.

What Materials Can a Coil Crane Lift?

The coil crane can handle heavy rolled coils, such as steel coils, hot‑rolled and cold‑rolled coils, galvanized and aluminum coils. It can also lift cylindrical metal coils with stable density. For safety reasons, you’d better not lift fragile or irregular light materials.

How Long Does a Coil Crane Last?

Under normal conditions, our coil crane can serve 12–18 years. It depends on the working level of the crane, your operation frequency and the working environment. For example, cranes used in high-heat and high-corrosion environments may offer shorter life. But if you conduct regular maintenance, they will serve you for over 20 years.

What Is the Difference Between Single Girder and Double Girder Coil Crane?

What Lifting Tools Are Used on Coil Cranes?

The lifting tools for coil cranes include C‑hooks, coil lifting clamps, electromagnetic chucks and nylon lifting slings. 

The C‑hooks are very popular for steel coil inner‑hole lifting. For coil clamps, it is safe to handle the material horizontally. And you can use electromagnetic chucks to lift coils quickly without contact. For nylon slings, it significantly prevents surface scratches in your steel coil.

Considerations for Choosing the Right Coil Crane

You need to confirm the single coil maximum weight, outer and inner diameter, and stacking needs. It is necessary to reserve a 15% margin for the rated lifting weight. And it can help you avoid safety hazards caused by overload. 

At the same time, you should rely on the coil size to select C-hook or tong type structure. This ensures the safety and efficiency of handling.

Workshop Span & Lifting Height

You should also measure the span of the workshop, the distance between the workshop beam and the ground, and the existing track layout. 

For a small factory within 20m, a single girder coil crane is enough for your light-duty operation. 

If you hold a large workshop and want to lift a heavy load, the double girder coil crane is better.

Choosing a coil crane that fits your workshop layout can guarantee the later smooth production.
